Growing in Silence

Growing in Silence

“How lovely is the silence of growing things.”

My wife and I visited a craft village yesterday afternoon. There were people making pottery, wood projects, blowing glass and gardening. In the middle of the nursery stood a sign that read, “How lovely is the silence of growing things.”

The plants were beautiful. I can image the folks viewing these plants everyday witness their growth, in silence. I did not hear the call of any plant, “hey look over here, I’m growing.”

There were some plants that were dying. A few days earlier we experienced a powerful storm with 40 plus mph winds. Many plants lay on their sides broken at the stalk. They had not grown strong enough to withstand the storm.

God calls us to grow. The disciple Peter says, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2) When we have to explain we are growing, changing, we’re probably not. We grow in silence. The evidence of growth is seen by the people who watch us every day. They observe and experience Christ’ likeness being perfected in us. They see the strength that we have through the storms of life.

There is nothing more obnoxious then a christian announcing their growth! Grow in silence, but Grow! Let people see the difference Jesus makes in your daily life! May your attitude, words, actions, and purpose grow more Christlike every day. In Silence!

Have a fantastic Monday! Let’s talk again in the morning.
