I am reading a book called, “The Healthy Aging Brain”. Mine is getting older and I’d love for it to be healthy. The author states, “the brain is a social organ linked to other brains; relationships are our primary environment.”
So far, we have talked about:
- Mindset – Making sure you start each day with the attitude of being God’s servant.
- Let God search your heart for anything that might be offensive to Him.
- Grow in the character of God
Connecting with people that will draw you to be Christ-like is important. The scripture teaches, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”. (Proverbs 27:17) Here is the problem; relationships will either sharpen you to be Christ-like, or increase your hunger and love for the world. The bible does not ask us to remove ourselves from the world, but we are not to be of the world. (1 John 2:15-17)
The relationships we have with others are vital to our spiritual development. We must be extremely careful to lean in and accept influence from men and women that are seeking to be Christ-like/healthy in all that they do. It is only then that we will have the effect on the world that God calls us to have.
So, who do you accept influence from? How is this relationship creating more of a Christ-like passion in you? You were created for connection/relationship it is vital for your development as a Christ follower! If you do not have these people in your life, find them NOW! If you have not been with them regularly, weekly, make it a priority. It’s the only way to grow in this relationship you have with Jesus!
Have a great day, let’s talk again in the AM!
