This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”Psalm 118:24
This is God’s Day! Everyday is God’s Day! He is the one that orders the day, that gives the day meaning and success. As we begin a new day, it is not about what I must do, but what He is doing. Remember from yesterday, the large ball goes in the jar first!
The first things I must do each day is continue to ABIDE in Jesus! In John 15:4 Jesus says these words:
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
Abiding is a continual state of submission to God’s direction and plan, each day. Yesterday, my wife and I had a great discussion on the way home from Tampa. We were talking about marriage at one point and she asked me what does submission look like? I though about it for a while, what a great question that usually is followed by a very shallow answer. You can NOT submit yourself to someone who is not submitted to (abiding in) God. Jesus was fully submitted to the plan of His Father. Submission is attaching myself to you in such a way that the truth of God, which is flowing through me, flows through you. Submission allows us to become conduits of God’s truth together. Submission looks like what we were doing in the car yesterday. As I was wrestling with truth and God’s wisdom, Jenn began to wrestle with me. We submitted to each other out of reverence to Christ. (Ephesians 5:21)
What is God doing around you today? What is God doing in you today? Where are the burning bushes in your life? This is God’s day, focus on what He is doing, going to check it out and hearing His voice call your name. Submit to Him, wrestle with the things that break the heart of God and how he is asking you to partner with Him today. Abide in Him, for without Him you can do nothing!
Focus on this Mindset. In Philippians 2:5 Paul says we should have the same Mindset as Christ Jesus. Once you have fixed your eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2) you are ready to start your day!
Have a great day, I am praying for you and would love to hear about what you and God are up to. You can reach me at Scott@freshstartchurch.com! Let’s talk again tomorrow.
