Jenn Welch

Jenn Welch earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Exceptional Education from the University of Central Florida and holds certification in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder K-12, Intellectual Disabilities K-12, Elementary Education, and English for Speakers of Other Languages.  Since 1998 she has devoted her life to promoting and enhancing opportunities for students with disabilities to learn with and from their non-disabled peers in inclusive environments. She has experience teaching students with varying exceptionalities through the full continuum of services. Jenn was the first Special Education teacher to represent Orange County Public Schools, the tenth largest school district in the nation, as the district Teacher of the Year. She served as a District ESE Instructional Coach for the Teaching and Learning division and Transition Services team before being recruited to serve at the state level as a Florida Inclusion Network Facilitator.

Jennifer has provided professional development at the district, state, national and international levels. She has co-authored problem solving tools, data systems, white papers, technical assistance papers, and professional development series all focused on best practices for inclusive education.

She served as former chairperson of the Greater Orlando Interagency Council and was a proud member of the University of Central Florida (UCF) Inclusive Education Services Committee responsible for birthing the first opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities to attend college at UCF.  She served as an advisory member of the Intervention Specialist and the Project ASD Advisory committees at UCF. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools.

She partners with her husband, Scott, in ministry by creating the Sunday School lessons to parallel the lessons Scott is teaching to the adults each Sunday. Their 8 year old daughter, Marina, often helps her mom create the activities our Freshstart Sunday School teachers use to help the children process the big idea of each lesson.

Scott and Jenn enjoy spending time with their 3 children and 5 grandchildren.  They love relaxing on the beach, observing marine life, hunting for treasures at garage sales and thrift stores, and wrestling with how God is calling them to partner with Him to advance His kingdom.
