A Note from Pastor Scott

A Note from Pastor Scott

Dear Friend,

We’re excited to have you at FreshStart Church.  Whether you are brand new to the church or have been attending for some time, I pray that this booklet and our time together today will help you understand what being a part of the family of FreshStart is all about.

When you hear the word “membership” today, you think privilege.  Country clubs have members, grocery stores have member discount cards, and even websites have memberships today.  Memberships in these areas come with privileges that non-members do not receive!  Well, membership in the church is different.

Being a part of the FreshStart family is not about privilege as much as it is about responsibility.  It is for this reason that FreshStart does not use the word church member!  We believe that as members of the Body of Christ, we are called to worship together, grow together, live our lives as an example of God’s grace together, serve together and share Christ’s death and resurrection together (Acts 2:43-47).  This is the responsibility of the Body of Christ, Servant Members!

However, becoming a servant member does not place you in the Body of Christ.  The Body of Christ is made up of men and women who have surrendered their lives to the control of Jesus Christ.  We choose to do life in a new way when we confess our sin, a Kingdom way, living a Kingdom Life! We enter God’s family seeking to live in a manner worthy of our calling, God’s Word gives us direction and God’s Spirit in us makes that possible.  In fact until we embrace this Kingdom Life we should probably delay joining the church as a Servant Member.  If you have questions about this life changing decision we’d love to talk to you about it today.

So let’s get started.  We want to help you understand how FreshStart began, what we believe, how we do ministry and how FreshStart runs!  Buckle your seat belt this is a great ride!
