Scott Welch grew up in the home of a Methodist pastor outside of Philadelphia. After finishing high school Scott attended Taylor University in Upland, IN where he majored in Christian Education & Psychology. In 1985 Scott received his Masters of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, in Wilmore, KY.
Scott has been involved in youth ministry for 20 years serving churches in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky & Florida. He also served several years as the program director for Morning Cheer Inc., a Christian resort on the Chesapeake Bay. In the fall of 1999 Scott worked with four other families to begin FreshStart Church. Scott loves sports & outdoor activities & lives in Tampa/Oldsmar area with his wife Lori and their 4 children.

Kathy Winstead grew up in a large family here in Tampa Bay. Kathy received her formal education from Atlanta Christian College in East Point Georgia.
Kathy has been involved in children's ministry since she was a teenager, she served in a local ministry for 12 years and during this ministry she lead camps for abused children as well as overnight camps for the children in her ministry. Kathy has been on staff with FreshStart for approximately 2 years, she has a passion for children and meeting their needs.
Kathy has been married to Jeff for 32 years and they have 2 adult children. Their daughter Shonda is married to Matt and she teaches in Tampa. Shonda & Matt have a son, Sam making Jeff & Kathy very proud Grandparents! Jeff & Kathy also have a son Ben who works in digital production. Jeff & Kathy recently moved from Saint Petersburg to Land O Lakes, they felt they really needed to be closer to their Grandson Sam, who with his "Mommy & Daddy" lives in Lutz.
Kathy is very excited to be working with the children and families of FreshStart Church.

Sam Mike has been involved in ministry for over 15 years. After graduating from high school, Sam attended technical training and began full-time work in a print shop. During this time Sam remained very involved in youth ministry. It was not long before Sam joined the ministry team full time. He focused on the audio/visual aspect or ministry as well as program setup. Sam jumped in for the ride when FreshStart was established and has been involved in audio-visual ministry & web site design ever since. Sam enjoys sports, especially football, and is an avid movie goer. |
